Rumours definition: 1. information, often a mixture of truth and untruth, told by one person to another
2. gossip or common talk.
I think what you and your company are doing is great. I come from a family of self taught/passion. My grandfather was a leading industrialist lost all his money twice and made it all back. As you said people always like to see other people fall the trick is to deflect those energies and deal with them head on like you have just done in this blog. I wish you great success and so what if you are having layoffs and such so are a million other companies.

Your perspective and honesty is going to see you through these difficult times. Stay the course Rich. Nautical Structures was given many of our first opportunities by your grandfather Vince and your dad, back in the Gulfstar days (1985 – wow I’m feeling old!). My first davit failure happened on Salt Creek on a GS49, with Dick on the dock watching. I thought at the time my “short” career in yaching was over! Your dad helped me understand the cause of the problem, we fixed the davit and with his encouragement kept going. I share this history on your blog because you are a family of boatbuilders that have helped us, and others become successful in this industry.
I don’t know a single company in this industry today that is not having to reinvent their companies. From these difficulties we find our strengths. I have no doubt that Lazzara yachts will evolve as a stronger and better boat builing entity from the challenges you face.

Rick,
Great to hear from you and thanks for the encouragement. Wow, cool story, I didnt know that about the GS49. I’ve known you since I was a young kid and I really am thankful for all that your company has done with us. No doubt your products are one of the key contributors to our success. The twin hidden davits on the first Lazzara 76 (1993 – 1999) model are still to this day an incredible piece of engineering.

Thanks for sharing! The openness of Lazzara is second to none, not only in the boating industry, but of any industry. I have the utmost confidence in Lazzara to not only survive the recession, but come out of it a very strong company.

Thanks Troy. For those that don’t know Troy (and Chuck) were responsible for our marketing at Lazzara over the last 5+ years. Most recently Troy left for a new job, however before he did he was responsible for completely redesigning the http://www.lazzarayachts.com website.
That task included shooting/editing/composing music on all videos, doing the copy writing throughout the entire site and bringing the whole thing to life. We appreciate your effort for sure and wish you the best as well.

Rich, the fact that you stood up, took notice and faced this situation head-on, with honesty and frankness would make you grandfather proud. Your family has always “told it like it is” and an example to the industry of how it should be done.
Additionally, I would like to compliment your use of social media, especially in a situation such as this. What another great example of your forward thinking.
“Full steam ahead Rich!”

Your honesty is refreshing–and always has been. Rick Thomas hit the nail on the head when he said there isn’t a single company around that isn’t having to reinvent its business. Best wishes to you and the entire Lazzara team.
On a related note, if you–or anyone else, for that matter–want some excellent insight on how to face this challenging economy, Bob Saxon has been doing a series of presentations that are outstanding from all reports.

Thx Rich. Your company, Urbanvoyage, was instrumental in getting the word out on the new LSX92 prior to its launching. I think those renderings were totaled 100’s of pages of press. Look forward to working together again.

My company, Admiral/C&B Propeller, is a longtime vendor (and South Tampa neighbor) and we truly consider ourselves part of the Lazzara family. Family members go through good times and bad times together and emerge stronger. Family members work for something beyond money. Thanks for saying what needs to be said.

Diane,
Yes you may be so bold, as far as I’m concerned you’ve earned the right with me. That was a very good podcast, suggest all listen to it, I got a chance to listen to it when you first did it live. Looking forward to hearing from Bob at some upcoming events, hopefully I can make it.

Hi Rich,
Thank you very much for your video. I have no doubt that Lazzara Yachts will grow and prosper in the coming years. I have found that companies such as yours that have a passion for their product also develop a strong following of enthusiasts. Some examples come to mind: Ferrari, Jaguar, Ducati among others.
This may be a bit off the wall, but have you considered the idea of developing a Lazzara line of accessories? I realize Lazzara Yachts are basically bespoke and are really well equipped but I was thinking something along the lines of high-end clothing, furniture, china etc that could be used both on the boat or home(s).
At rate, best wishes for the future.

Michael,
Thanks for the positive feedback. Those are some strong brands indeed, love being associated with them. Yes we have thought about Lazzara line of accessories however just never taken the time to develop. May be time to look into it again.

Hi Rich,
Great way to address the rumor mill. I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with yourself and some of the family members you mentioned in the video. The passion for boat building and carrying the traditions of the family business is very visible. The hard work and determination is apparent in the innovative products Lazzara has and will continue to bring to the market. I have no doubts you will emerge a better company.
Much respect

John, thanks for the comments. Yes we have worked together for a while. For those that dont know John supplies our underwater lights. They are std issue on all of our yachts. The LSX92 uses 9 of them!

Hi Rich
My name is Nathan Lichtwar we have a web site which I would love to put your video of the LMY 116 on a link
http://vimeo.com/4757573
We are the owners of a 1972 GS 42 trawler which we love
since 1992. I wanted to show what a yacht should look like and your company would make the most sense…
I hope you don’t mind?
