I must say, this was probably my favorite video that I’ve made so far. Two weeks ago I made some guarantees when it came to selling at this years Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. Did the show meet my expectations? Was it a good show? Watch the video and find out. I give you a full recap of this years show including attendance, sales, and more. Going into this show I was certainly confident we would sell some yachts. I even guaranteed it in last weeks video. After the first two days I am very excited about the prospects that are out there. In fact we sold an LSX78 on day one AND another on day two. Selling one a day is a good goal for us to have! Overall I know that the traffic is down only slightly at our display when compared to last year. However people are buying yachts again. And that’s the best news so far. The LSX78 is a HUGE success. I’m looking forward to the next three days and hope to continue the one boat a day sales trend.

Show Time For the New LSX78

Yes we’re getting closer. The 2009 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show is quickly approaching. And making her debut this year will be our all new LSX78. I think you’re going to like the new color too, I do. For those that have never been to the show we are located in the South West section of the show, Facedock #5. It’s the same location we’ve been at the last 15 years.

Please make it a point to stop by and say hello. Its always an exciting time leading up to such a major boat show. We are launching new products, introducing new designs and setting the foundation for the next year.

This year we will have the broadest range of yachts as well as the most models in our history. Here’s what we will be offering

Lazzara LSX92 wins Best Interior Award

The annual Yachts Magazine Awards were held in Cannes, France right on the beach in front of the Carlton Hotel. This year the LSX92 was nominated in three categories which was the most of any other yacht. In each of the three categories (Best Design, Best Interior, Most Innovative) three yachts were nominated and then at the ceremony the winners were announced. It is a prestigoius event and one that Lazzara has one two years previous, first (2006) for the Lazzara 84 and then (2007) for the LSX75. Special thanks to Michel Karsenti, CEO and Publisher of Yachts Magazine.

Canne Boat Show, getting ready

It’s that time of the year again. The 2009 Cannes Boat Show is from Sept 9 -14th. We will be displaying our LSX75 at slip JAN019 and if your in the area feel free to stop by for a tour. I can tell you that the participation of manufactuers and vendors does not appear to be down when compared to the last several years. With the economies impact on our industry I had expected to see less participation, smaller displays, etc. However that doesnt seem to be the case. I will post some updates from time to time on our Twitter account HERE and our Facebook account HERE.

Whats the real truth about Lazzara’s quality?

Tired of listening to me talk about how good our yachts are. Then don’t! Listen to what our owners and captains are saying. Here’s two recent emails I received that talk about the summer experience on two different LSX75’s located in the Med. Photos are from M/Y Tatami while she was in Portofino.

Hey Rich,

Hope all is well, I’m glad to hear that the market has started to pick itself back up, the 120 looks phenomenal.

As you aware this was Lizzi’s first season as a charter vessel, I have been blown away by her performance and reliability. Having worked in industry for over 6 years, I have worked on many yachts. From Ferretti to Riva, Sunseeker to Princess and many more, not one of then can compete with the lazzara 75 LSX, in both build quality and engineering.

We have managed to complete 7 weeks of charter with no problems except with the jet ski, which sunk (long story, will tell you about it at the Cannes boat show). At the end of each charter I present the client with there accounts onto a spreadsheet. Every single client turned around and said “Tristan you have made a mistake with the amount of fuel that we have consumed, it should be a lot more”. When I tell them the fuel consumption of the boat they have all been blown away and make comments like “the same size Mangusta burns twice the amount than the Lsx 75″.So they all walk away with smiles on there faces.

This season we have completed over 4500nm and we have had 0 problems with the IPS drive system. We did have to change 4 props due to an impact with what we thought was a submerged log. But we manage to change all 4 props within 2 hours because we had spare props onboard.

All the feedback from both the charter clients and charter agents has been beyond expectation, They have all be blown away by the boat and the service. The owner is thrilled with both the crew and boats performance.

We have our last charter starting tomorrow and finishing early morning on the 9th, So in the afternoon I think the owner and myself will come and visit you guys, find something to give you a hard time about.

Dear Family,

At the end of a wonderful time in Italy and France with out beloved Tatami we have been again to famous Portofino. On August 31, Tatami will be loaded for her way back to Ft. Lauderdale. We had a wonderful trouble free time in 180 hours of crusining time.

Palm Beach Boat Show Recap

Well the 2009 Palm Beach Boat Show has come to an end and this year had a few pleasant surprises. First was the overall turnout of the boat show was better than I expected. We had the most traffic on Saturday and compared with last year our attendance was only slightly down (less than 5%). Another surprise was the level of interest we saw on The Showcase. Many people came just to see this “barge” that everyone had been talking about. I was told by several people that The Showcase made the rounds on several TV News broadcasts.

In all as I look back at the Palm Beach Boat Show I am pleased with the positive turnout and the new potential Lazzara owners that we met. We have several sea-trials and tours set up and over the coming weeks we will get a better picture of the overall success from this years show. See you next year.

Palm Beach Boat Show

The 2009 Palm Beach Boat Show has officially started. Going from March 26 – 29th its located right along the inter-coastal waterway in Palm Beach, FL. The first day commenced at noon yesterday and the crowds were heavy for the first several hours. While the overall size of this show is smaller than others like Ft. Lauderdale or Miami, its’ still a very important venue for us to showcase Lazzara Yachts. Having walked around I would say that participation from builders, dealers and vendors is down about 10-15%. There are several open slips which would have normally had boats in them. In addition there are many large boats that have moved closer to the main entrance where historically they were located further out. Speaking of being moved, our new location is second to none. We have The Showcase along with our yachts positioned all the way up front right next to the entrance of the main dock. There isnt a better location and our Showcase really has become the center point of the entire boat show, kinda like Cinderellas castle at Disney (read this to understand that reference) While the showcase is nice the most important part is the yachts we are displaying; the LSX92, LSX75 and LMY84. If your in the area this weekend stop by and see it all for yourself.

The 2009 Palm Beach Boat Show is fast approaching going from March 26th – March 29th. Lazzara Yachts will be debuting the LSX92, LSX75 and LMY84. In addition this will be the first time the Palm Beach area has seen the Lazzara Showcase complete with interactive displays, waterfalls and Microsoft Surface retail unit. Come by and see all of these located at Ramp 4. Now that I got all that out of the way the big question is, how will the boat show be? What will attendance be like? What sales volume will we see compared to last year? All of these are questions I look forward to answering. If your there please stop by and say hello.

Dubai Boat Show Recap – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

So how was the Dubai Boat Show?

The Good.

Overall attendance was the same if not more than last year and specifically for us it was a good show. This was the first year we had a boat in the show, while previous years we only had a display. Having the actual product there was an important step for us. By the third day word had gotten around to go and see the Lazzara LSX75. The quality, design and presentation of the boat were a draw and something everyone commented favorably on. The overall interest in our product mainly focused on the LSX line in the 75, 92 and new 75 fly. And that interest came from around the region, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. We have several great prospects and I am confident we will have 1-3 sales directly from this boat show.

The Bad

Uncertainty, the same problem that is plaguing our industry as a whole, is also prevalent here. Questions about whats going to happen with various boat companies, where is the bottom of this economic downturn, what will my boat be worth in another 2-3 years, etc. All of those objections that we heard at the Miami Show were in Dubai as well. That’s something we continually will have to fight. We’re tackling it head on by doing several things. First, we limit production so we aren’t fighting our own inventory or hurting our pre-owned market. Second is developing new product with the cutting edge technology so that it retains a higher resale value. Third, producing product that is more economical to use and maintain like our LSX line or our new LMC line, all of which use pod drives that are much cheaper to run.

The Ugly

There is a surplus of boat inventory, too much. Most of the “new” boats on display were 2008 models and some were even 2007 models. This is not only a huge problem for the region but for the industry as a whole. One of the regions most prominent dealers in our size yachts has 40 units worth nearly $100 million in stock! And there story is no different from any other volume builder/distributor around the world. It’s one of the reason Lazzara Yachts mission statement says our “goal is to build a few, high-quality, innovative yachts”. It’s hard enough to sell new yachts let alone competing against your own new models that are 1-2 years old.
